As 2019 approaches, many people will be making the switch to vaping. With so many products on the market, it can be extremely difficult to find the right vape for you and even harder to find something that's beginner friendly. In order to make the change as smooth and successful as possible, we've put together a list of the best vape starter kits for 2019!
1.
JUUL
Yes, seriously.
Even though the Juul is considerably more expensive than other
options, it's small, light, incredibly easy to use, and might even be
a little cheaper than buying cigarettes. The 5% nicotine salt in Juul
pods provides a nicotine hit that's very similar to the nicotine that
you get from the average cigarette, and with Juul introducing 3%
nicotine pods, you'll even be able to wean yourself off of nicotine a
little more effectively. Between its low skill requirements, familiar
feel, and a small variety flavors to choose from, it can be extremely
effective in helping you switch to vaping. As successful as the Juul
has been though, there are still some inherent downsides.
The pods
are expensive and many users go through at least one pod a day, it
uses a proprietary charger, the battery life is pretty short, the
flavor isn't very impressive, there aren't many flavors to choose
from, there are only two colors, the pods aren't refillable, and
nicotine salts can be unpleasant and overpowering for a lot of
people. Even still, the Juul remains an extremely popular choice for
the first-time vaper.2. Suorin Drop
Taking
second place is another pod system, but this one is subjectively and
objectively better in every way. The Suorin Drop is still a small pod
system like the Juul, but it has a more substantial battery that
charges via micro USB, the pods are refillable, the flavor is
actually quite good, the vapor production is impressive for its size,
there are several colors to choose from, and it still utilizes
auto-draw like the Juul, which means all you have to do to vape on
the Drop is take a puff, plus there's no need to turn it on or off.
The battery life is indicated by red and blue LEDs under the pod, the
body of the device is quite sturdy and well-built, and it's easy to
refill.
With refillable pods you get to choose your flavor from
hundreds if not thousands of e-juice options, you get to choose your nicotine level in either freebase (regular) or
salt nicotine, and you only have to replace the pod when it starts to
taste burnt. I use freebase nicotine in mine and I get about a week
and a half out of each pod, but coil life is a bit shorter with
nicotine salts. Given that having options and being able to refill
your pods means that you have to learn at least a little bit about
how to use the Drop, it still takes second place behind the Juul for
the best starter vape of 2019.

3. Aspire Nautilus AIO
For
third place, we're turning up the difficulty by adding a button and
coil options. The Aspire Nautilus AIO is another pod-style system,
but this one has replaceable coils beyond just being refillable. The
tried-and-true Nautilus coils have been around for many years and
have proven to provide excellent flavor, vapor production and coil
life. There are several coils to choose from to get the experience
you want, whether you want more vapor production, a tighter draw,
more intense flavor, or even the new NS (nicotine salt) coil that's
optimized for use with nicotine salts. The Nautilus AIO starter kit
features a huge 4.5ml pod that holds more than twice as much as the
Suorin Drop pods, and an impressive 1000mAh battery that provides
more than three times the battery life of a Suorin Drop.
The starter
kit comes with the device, a pod, a charge cable, a set of
replacement seals, and two coils, one being the 1.8 ohm NS coil and
one being a standard 1.8 ohm coil. It comes with a dust cap to keep
your vape clean, and the pods are replaceable in case they get worn
out, broken or lost. Plus, the replacement pods come with a new dust
cap and a coil!
The Nautilus coils cost less to replace than either the Juul or Drop pods and tend to last considerably longer. The Nautilus AIO also charges through a micro USB port and uses blue and orange lights to indicate battery life. The fact that it requires the press of a button to vape and introduces the complicated world of coil options puts it firmly in third place as quite possibly the best, though least user-friendly starter kit we've covered so far.

4. SMOK Stick Prince Baby
Now we're literally turning up the heat! In fourth
place is the Stick Prince Baby starter kit from SMOK. Maybe you've
got a friend that vapes and has some high-powered cloud chuckin'
beast of a vape or maybe you just feel like jumping in head first,
but whatever the reason may be, this is the small and easy to use
starter kit that performs like one of those giant box mods. With a
single button like the Nautilus AIO but the first device in this list
to feature a vape tank, it's about as easy as high vapor production
direct-to-lung style vapes get. The 2000mAh battery is enough to get
most people through the day on a single charge, and the stock bubble
glass expands the juice capacity enough that you won't feel like
you're refilling all the time.
The surprisingly powerful stick battery charges through a micro USB port, and though it has a pinhole light below the charge port to indicate its charging status, there's nothing to give you an idea of how much battery life you have left. The tank that comes with the kit is the TFV12 Baby Prince tank, which is super easy to fill with the flip-open top and has three coil options available so you can dial in your perfect vape. There are no low-powered coils available, so make sure you're ready for nothing but clouds before you pick one of these up.

5. Voopoo Drag 2 Kit
If none of the starter kit vapes we've mentioned so far
have really tickled your fancy, you might be the type to buy a
Hayabusa as your first motorcycle. If you want to run before you can
walk, the absolute best dual battery box mod starter kit for 2019 is
the Voopoo Drag 2 Kit. This kit is a far cry from any of the other
starter kits we've talked about today, featuring three buttons, a
screen to give you all the information you need about your vape, a
wealth of options and settings to dial in the perfect puff, and room
for two lithium-ion 18650 vape batteries for excellent power output
and battery life.
Dual battery box mod vapes have never been beginner friendly because the learning curve is about as steep as the price increase, but the Drag 2 Starter Kit makes it a little easier with the addition of FIT modes. FIT modes 1, 2 and 3 are essentially low, medium and high power modes so you don't have to worry about figuring out how wattage works right off the bat. The kit comes with the Drag 2 Box Mod, the Uforce T2 tank, two coils, a spare piece of glass, a set of replacement seals and a charge cable, but you'll need to buy a couple of vape batteries, and probably a battery charger. While you can charge through the mod, it's always best to charge your batteries on a separate vape charger.
The reason this is number five may
already be obvious, but it's because the Drag 2 Kit is an awesome
vape that's surprisingly beginner friendly, though definitely not the
sort of thing we would ever recommend to someone that's just starting
out. Check out our review of the Voopoo Drag 2 Kit for more info.

Bonus- Joyetech eGo AIO Starter Kit
All of us at Vaporleaf believe that the eGo AIO kit
from Joyetech deserves a little more than an honorable mention here.
The AIO has been a staple in our starter vape lineup for years and
while it's not the newest vape on this list, it remains one of the
best starter vapes in 2019. Featuring a 1500mAh battery in a compact
form factor with a 0.6 ohm coil as standard, it provides a satisfying
vape with enough battery life to get you through the day. The 2ml
tank size might leave something to be desired, but it's extremely
easy to fill even for those with less than perfect vision.
The stock
0.6 ohm coil provides enough power to produce a nice cloud and a
satisfying hit, though there are other coil options that can provide
either a cooler and more comfortable vape, or a bigger hit with more
vapor production. The flavor isn't quite as impressive as some of the
other starter vapes available today, but that's hard to complain
about when you consider the wallet-friendly price point and the
impressive reliability. The Joyetech eGo AIO is more than one of the
best starter vapes for 2019, it's been one of the best starter vapes
for nearly three years running! You can learn more about the AIO on our website.
